This study demonstrates that, in her presentation of distinct cultural spaces, both public and private, the director questions the apparent monolithic nature of Mexican identity as 'mestizo' and reveals the existence of marginalized cultural communities that the dominant groups continue to exclude from their concept of the 'great Mexican family'.
