El algoritmo de los logaritmos

Abstract

Los logaritmos son históricamente reconocidos por su utilidad parareducirel grado de dificultad de las operaciones. En sus orígenes fueron utilizados mediante tablas que arrojaban el resultado para la asociación entre dos números.En la actualidad, los utilizamos del mismo modo,pero no de forma directa, sino mediante algoritmos configuradosen las calculadorasque nos arrojan el resultado de las operaciones.En este documentose describeel recorrido desdeuna revisita adiversos libros matemáticos, tomando sus grandes características en la definición del logaritmo, propiedades -logaritmo de un producto, logaritmo de uncociente,logaritmo de una potencia, cambio de base-; pasando por el análisis de libros con fines avocados a la enseñanza matemática y propuestas editorialespara tener más elementos a la hora de elaborar una propuestaenseñanza; y se presentanalgunos momentos de la experiencia desarrollada luego en aula. Algunos interrogantes han orientado los sentidos en todo este camino: ¿cómo se enseñanloslogaritmos?,¿qué alternativas ayudarían?,¿qué tan significativa nos resulta la construcción histórica en el aprendizaje deloslogaritmos?

Logarithms are historically recognized for their usefulness in reducing the degree of difficulty of operations. Originally, they were used by means of tables that yielded the result for the association between two numbers. Nowadays, we use them in the same way, but not in a direct way, but by means of algorithms configured in calculators that give us the result of the operations. This document describes the journey from a review of several mathematical books, taking their main characteristics in the definition of the logarithm, properties -logarithm of a product, logarithm of a quotient, logarithm of a power, change of base-; going through the analysis of books with purposes devoted tomathematical teaching and editorial proposals to have more elements at the time of elaborating a teaching proposal; and some moments of the experience developed later in the classroom are presented. Some questions have guided us along the way: how are logarithms taught, what alternatives would help, how significant is the historical construction in the learning of logarithms?
