The Illustraciones of the Casa de Niebla, of Pedro Barrantes Maldonado, written batween 1541 and 1573, dedicates a quite wide space to the ladies that belonged to the lineage of the Guzman. Models to guide the behavior ofthe women ofthe Spanish aristocracy ofthe XVI century? Without a doubt there is much of it. However, the singular portraits of sorne ofthese subjected women to dictations ofthe lineage-ofall information is given about the net parental and politics and of the patrimonies that contributed- and to the unconditional obedience that they would have kept their husbands, but that they were shown able t act in an autonomous way from its place of power, they charge the reliefs ofan unyielding individuality. Sorne of theis actions are parangonables to the feats of their spouses and them are in parallel in a conscious or unconscious Way, for the chronist. It highlights the case of Doña María Alonso Coronel, wife of Don Alonso Pérez of Guzman, el Bueno whose history still offers clearly Remaisssance features when the author is been good to build it, of documental information and chronistic ofthe XIII century. Smaller relief, but not has the histories of Beatriz Ponce de León, of Isabel de la Cerda y Guzmán, of Urraca Osorio de Lara and María Coronel.
