The aim of this article is to understand variations in the representation of the different relationships among interlocutors within the pedagógical process of catholic religious education in its relationship with the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). With this aim, we analyze two official catechisms, dated 1960 and 1981 respectively, from the perpective of the realization of textual meanings considering the structure of the clause as a message accoring to the Systemic Functional Linguistics. The analysis shows a shift towards a dialogical configuration and a higher symmetry in the most recent catechism; at the same time, it exibits stronger strategies of control of interpretation through the representation of the speaker.
