Philo of Alexandria, when explaining at the beginning of Legum Allegoriae the biblical verse 'And the Lord God said 'is not good that the man should be alone, we will make him an help meet for him' (Gen. 2.18), confirms the theological axis around which he principium cognoscendi of his monotheism rotates. The Philonic interpretation doesn't respond to the 'creation of the world' pattern of Plato's Timaeus, because for him the One -unmoving and eternal- only become related with the material order through the Logos, the creative agent conceived as the mediator word. The human intellect is to the body what the divine Logos is to the cosmos and it needs the mediation of some powers {dynameis) which, when activated, connect it with the world through the senses.
