El arte de responder : sobre la inquisitio en América

Abstract

La situación básica de la inquisiüo presupone dos interlocutores en relación asimétrica: uno tiene el derecho de preguntar y otro tiene el deber de responder. Trasplantada a América con la expansión transoceánica europea, la inquisitio se constituye en nuestro continente con la particularidad de que aquel acto de preguntar y responder se produjera entre interlocutores de distintas culturas y que estas culturas se hallaran en la compleja relación dominador-dominado. Este trabajo indaga la presencia de la inquisitio, en su doble cara de obtener información y ejercer el poder, aun en textos contemporáneos como Testimonio. This paper deals with the inquisitio. The inqutsito assumes two speakers in asymmetric relation: one having the right to ask and the other being obliged to answer. The inquisitio was brought to America by the transoceanic European expansiono It was established in our continent with the pecu liarity that the act of asking and answering was applied to mernbers of dilferent cultures and, at the same time, in the relation between domineering and dominees. This work inquires the existence of inquisitio in both of its functions, getting information and exercising power, even in contemporary texts; such as Testimonio.
