Implicancia del Ca+2 y especies activas de oxígeno en la manifestación de tipburn en lechuga bajo condiciones de salinidad

En La Pampa el agua destinada a irrigación de hortalizas, como la lechuga posee un alto contenido de sales. Es frecuente la aparición de tipburn, enfermedad que produce necrosis en los márgenes de la hoja; asociada a la presencia de salinidad y a desbalances de Ca+2 en células en activo crecimiento. El síntoma sugiere daño oxidativo. El objetivo fue aportar conocimiento de las causas fisiológicas del tipburn asociado a salinidad. Se propuso como hipótesis que los síntomas estarían relacionados con el crecimiento; y que la expresión de daño oxidativo y la del sistema antioxidante diferirán en genotipos con diversa susceptibilidad al tipburn en condiciones de salinidad, y que los síntomas estarían vinculados a la inclusión foliar de Ca+2 y Na+. Se realizaron 8 experimentos, en condiciones controladas con diferentes tratamientos salinos. Se observo que el tipburn no está relacionado con efectos diferenciales del estrés sobre la tasa de crecimiento de las hojas afectadas. Los resultados asociaron menor incidencia de tipburn en condiciones de salinidad, con el mantenimiento de una determinada concentración de Ca+2, una menor concentración de Na+ en hojas, menor daño oxidativo y una mayor actividad antioxidante. El estrés oxidativo juega un papel importante en la manifestación del tipburn.
