Los agroecosistemas y un enfoque sustentable de su manejo

Abstract

El extenso territorio argentino se ve afectado por graves procesos de degradación edáfica. De su superficie total, esta sometido un 40% a procesos de erosión hídrica y eólica, desertificación, salinización, inundaciones y anegamientos, incidiendo marcadamente en los agroecosistemas, afectando su productividad y la economía de sus establecimientos, contribuyendo, entre otros factores a la migración rural. Llegar a un recupero de los agroecosistemas es factible mediante un manejo agrícola sustentable, capaz de mantener la productividad biológica y la viabilidad económica a través de los años mediante la preservación del ambiente y sus recursos naturales, satisfaciendo las demandas de las futuras generaciones de agricultores. Todo ello sólo posible dentro de un marco económico radicalmente distinto al actual, que permita que toda la población goce de una óptima calidad de vida.

Serious processes of edaphic degradation affect the extense Argentinian territory. Forty per cent of the total surface is exposed to processes of hydric and aeolian erosion, desertification, salinization, floods and drowning. These negative effects bear a marked influence over the farming systems, affecting their productivity and economical feasibility, and they contribute, among other factors, to rural migration. To revert this situation in order to enable a recovery of these farming systems, is possible through a sustained agricultural management, capable of keeping biological productivity and economical viability through the years, by means of the preservation of the environment and its natural resources, satisfying the demands of future generations of farmers, all that within an economic framework different from the present one, able to be sustained in time and compatible with the preservation of the environment.
