Sorghastrum pellitum has decreased its distribution due to the grazing. The rain, bank and persistence of seeds were investigated to evaluate the possibilities of perpetuation of the specie. The seed bank was studied from February to October of 2006, extracting samples with a cylinder of 6 cm of diameter x 9 cm of depth; separating them in Inside (D) and outside (F) of the plants. The samples were washed sifted and dried in a stove. Healthy, vain and damaged seeds were identified with binocular glass. Three species were found: Sorghastrum pellitum, Eustachys retusa and Stipa tenuis, the two latter ones did not present healthy seeds. In order to determine the persistence of seeds bank 32 micro-areas (October 2005) wich were opened in June 2006, was protected. The three grass species were found but none of them showed healthy seeds. The seeds rain was expected in February and June, using 20 cm of diameter containers. Seeds of Sorghastrum pellitum and Eustachys retusa were obtained in the mentioned dates. In the studied area, the bank is dominated by Sorghastrum pellitum; it has a transitor bank of type I or II, their seeds are accumulated inside in the depth 0-3 cm (p<0.05), where the grazing would seem higher.
