Voces y diálogos. Representaciones de género en los programas de radio femeninos durante la dictadura franquista (1939-1959)

Abstract

La radio mantuvo desde sus inicios una estrecha relación con las mujeres. La entrada en el hogar del receptor imbricaba el tiempo y el espacio doméstico con las emisiones radiofónicas, no en vano, la audiencia femenina se convirtió en su principal valedora. En España, una vez establecido el “nuevo Estado”, la dictadura franquista reconfiguró la función de la radio como un dispositivo pedagógico y propagandístico. La capacidad difusora y el poder comunicativo de las ondas sirvieron a los propósitos del régimen que buscaba cimentar las doctrinas del nacionalcatolicismo. Las prácticas discursivas radiofónicas edificaron un sistema de representaciones de género y culturales que intentaba enraizar el ideal de feminidad de la “perfecta ama de casa”. A este fin, la radio constituyó un mapa de símbolos y significados que, de forma cotidiana y reiterativa, fue modificando el imaginario social femenino y sus prácticas sociales. En el presente artículo, pretenderemos reflejar en qué consistieron estos mecanismos discursivos y qué papel desempeñó la radio como constructora de un sistema de representaciones. Para ello, analizaremos los guiones de los programas femeninos retransmitidos en la emisora privada Radio Madrid durante la cronología abordada.

Radio had a close relationship with women since its inception. The entrance into the receiver’s home imbriced time and domestic space with radio broadcasts, not in vain, the female audience became its main standard. Once the “new State” was established, the Franco dictatorship reconfigured the function of radio as a pedagogical and propaganda device. The diffusive capacity and communicative power of the waves served the purposes of the regime that sought to cement the doctrines of national Catholicism. Radio talk practices built a system of gender and cultural representations that sought to root the ideal of femininity of the “perfect housewife”. To this end, radio was a map of symbols and meanings that, on a daily and repeated basis, was modifying the female social imaginary and its social practices. In this article, we will aim to reflect what this series of discursive mechanisms consisted of and what role radio played as the builder of a representation system. To do this, we will analyze the scripts of the women’s programs broadcast on the private station Radio Madrid during the chronology that we address.
