Previous studies to evaluate the presence of gastroprotector activity in plants in La Pampa province allowed to select Gnaphalium gaudichaudianum, Jodina rhombifolia, Lippia turbinata, Plantago lanceolada and Ruta chalepensisas as promising species. The pharmacological activity degree was determined using an induction model of ulcers by stress in mice. This model is sensible to detect the presence of gastroprotector activity, however, considering that ulcers possess a multifactorial etiology, it is insuficient to determine the therapeutic effects of each species. As to obtain more information on the pharmacological actions involved in the gastroprotective response, it is proposed to confirm if these vegetable species also prevent ulcers induced by chemical and pharmacological agents. We will also perform toxicological studies and other complementary tests such as intergastric ph, ph of extracts used, antioxidant activity and mucus production determination. Results obtained with these studies will allow us to infer on the therapeutic effects of these plants and their potential use as fitopharmacals in veterinary medicine. To conduct these experiments mice will be used as experimental animals, except for antioxidant activity determination which will be don in vitro.
