Bahía Blanca's coastal region has undergone an important series of transformations starting from of an industrial development project firmly related to the accomplishment of the Bahia Blanca-Puerto Montt Bioceanic Corridor and from the Province of Buenos Aires need to expand through its maritime possibilities. The full dimension of these changes can be better appreciated when getting acquainted with the uses the population has made of its space, specially as regards the commercial and seasonal-recreational aspects. The railway network connecting South and Northeast stations with the coastal region was well taken advantange of by a society that searched in the cool seaside for a space of leisure and recreation during the hot summer months. Both the fishing craft in Ingeniero White Port and the meat processing plant in General Daniel Cerri were labour centres of great importance to the region. Collecting data about transports, number of holiday-makers with daily car mobility, amount of workers in the meat industry, production and exportation, port fishers and their commercial relation with the centre, are some of the variables taken into account. Submitting patterns of settlement and of uses of the soil in three significant crossections have allowed us to spot the transformations that have taken place in the last fifty years.
