3 The species reintroduction is an important objective in the reestablishment and restoration of natural areas. Previous to the arrival of the domestic grassers, the psammophile grasslands were dominated by Sorghastrum pellitum (Hack.) Parodi. This summertime grass was very desired and had low resistance to grazing so all this made it difficult the recovery of its natural populations. Nowadays the presence of this grass is limited to closured areas or areas that have been grassed over very little and there wasn’t natural recruitment. The objective of this work was to evaluate the emergency possibilities of this species when its caryopses are at different depths in the ground. It has been worked on caryopses with and without bracts at a depth of 1; 2.5; 4; 6 y 8 cm (n=12). There were differences between the plants which came from caryopses with and without bracts for each depth. The first ones didn't show differences, in the second ones there were differences between 1 and 4 cm of depth, while there wasn't emergency at a depth of 6 and 8 cm. The results demonstrated that the presence of bracts prevents the emergency from happening or delays it and that the optimum sowing's depth could be between 1 and 2.5 cm. The sowing at higher depths damages the survival of the species.
